Community volunteers
We have many community volunteers and are always looking for more. The atmosphere is upbeat and we love to tease each other. There are jobs for all skill levels and physical abilities. Please come join us. Other Volunteers
Alternative Sanctions of Washington County - These volunteers (with crew supervisor) help us to do the heavy lifting, cleaning, painting, unload trucks, build shelves, move displays, etc.
Laurel Hall & Stonebridge Academy- These high school young adults come during the school year (with supervision)to sort school supplies, restock shelves, sort & hang clothes, etc.
United Cerebral Palsy- These adults come throughout the week (with supervision) to sort school supplies, restock shelves, sort & hang clothes, etc.
Groups and Organizations
We will be happy to provide a speaker for your meetings. We will inform your members of our goals and objectives and explain how your organization can help. We also encourage groups to enjoy a “community service” hands-on project at the Center. This is accomplished by hanging clothes, packing school supplies and lots of other little tasks throughout the year. There are jobs for all skill levels and physical abilities. High School Students
We offer "student service learning hours" for graduation. Please contact us at 301-671-2014 for scheduling.

*REMINDERS TO CLIENTS*
AS OF NOVEMBER 3, 2011 CHILDREN IN NEED HAS CHANGED THE SHOPPING "ALLOWANCE" FROM THREE (3) BOTTOMS PER CHILD TO TWO (2) BOTTOMS PER CHILD.
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE TO CHANGES FOR ELIGIBILITY FOR SCHOOL SUPPLIES BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 1, 2011
In order to receive your VOUCHER AND SCHOOL SUPPLIES for the summer of 2012, please make sure your information is up to date and you have visited Children in Need, on shopping days, at least three (3) times between September 1, 2011 and May 31, 2012.
*EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY (as of September 1, 2011) WE WILL NO LONGER BE OPEN ON THE LAST SATURDAY OF THE MONTH FOR CLIENT SHOPPING. If you are unable to shop during our designated days (Wednesday and Friday 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.) please be advised that you may contact our office to assign a friend or a relative to shop for you.
Donations: If your organization or business would like to hold a clothing or school supply drive, please contact Anne Martin, Executive Director at 301-671-2014.
