Community volunteers

We have 34 community volunteers and are always looking for more. The atmosphere is upbeat and we love to tease each other. There are jobs for all skill levels and physical abilities. Please come join us. Send us an e-mail at Childreninneed@nfis.com so we can get you started with our application.

Other Volunteers

Alternative Sanctions of Washington County - These volunteers help us on weekends to do the heavy lifting, cleaning, painting, unload trucks, build shelves, move displays, etc.

South Hagerstown High School Life Skills Class - These high school young adults come every Tuesday morning during the school year to sort school supplies, restock shelves, sort & hang clothes, clean, etc.

Laural Hall Life Skills Class - These high school young adults come every other Wednesday morning during the school year to sort school supplies, restock shelves, sort & hang clothes, etc.

Hagerstown Housing Authority - Children In Need is a good place to work off the mandatory community service hours often required for housing benefits

Groups and Organizations

We will be happy to provide a speaker for your meetings. We will inform your members of our goals and objectives and explain how your organization can help. We also encourage groups to enjoy a “community service” hands-on project at the Center. This is accomplished by hanging clothes, packing school supplies and lots of other little tasks throughout the year. There are jobs for all skill levels and physical abilities. High School Students

We offer "student service learning hours" for graduation. Please contact us at 301-671-2014 for scheduling.
